Weekly Garden Snapshot: 2023 week 29

See Previous | See Next This week my echinacea (despite stiff competition) is working hard to steal the front-garden show.  But also, front and back, my liatris are blooming!  I’m not sure why I like liatris so much, but I do, and Yay! they’re here! Looking back 1-2 weeks and 1-2 years confirms that this is definitely the time of the liatris!  (Also echinacea.) Looking back 2-4 weeks and 2-4 years highlights the echinacea a little bit more.  (Also the…

Weekly Garden Snapshot: 2023 week 28

See Previous | See Next This week there are more lilies!  Day lilies and asiatic lilies.  Though some other bits of the garden are showing the heat. Looking back 1-2 weeks and 1-2 years shows more July colors, and the way my garden gets rather a going-to-seed look this time of year – but with colors! Looking back 2-4 weeks and 2-4 years makes my garden almost look put together – always show the pretty side. …This week, my garden…

Weekly Garden Snapshot: 2023 week 27

See Previous | See Next Sorry for being late.  But, Ta-da!  All the July flowers are now here!  Tiger lilies and cherry bells, yarrow and daisies and coreopsis.  And there’s echinacea too, blooming in the front garden. Looking back 1-2 weeks and 1-2 years shows more lilies. Looking back 2-4 weeks and 2-4 years shows liatris, too, which isn’t quite blooming yet, but should be soon. …This week, my garden is very awake in the bright, bright Sun.

Revision Example: Targeted, Mid-drafting

Okay, I said last writing post that I like revisions. And recently I experienced a good example of the importance (for me*) of Targeted, Mid-drafting Revisions.  There are lots of kinds of revisions, and I mostly adore them all (what’s not to love about effective problem-solving?), and so I thought it would be nice to share an example of this particular kind. * Important disclaimer: I don’t want to try to give any instruction about when a writer should or…

Weekly Garden Snapshot: 2023 week 26

Weekly Garden Snapshot: 2023 week 26

See Previous | See Next This week my garden is looking just right for wild, rambling, misty mornings.  With mosquitos.  But ignore the mosquitos.  It’s much more romantic without the mosquitos. Looking back 1-2 weeks and 1-2 years confirms that it’s definitely the season for summer lushness. Looking back 2-4 weeks and 2-4 years emphasizes that July is also definitely the time of the sea of daisies (which has gone a bit rogue this year, but is still sea-of-daisies-like). …This…
