photos taken October 21st 2023 of Halloween skulls amongst yucca and a backlit garden with golden fall foliage.

This week the foliage on the trees has turned beautifully golden so that my garden feels filled up with sunlight.  We finally got our Halloween decorations out, and all of the leaves falling and filling up my driveway have made a great mulch for tucking in my roses (provided they don’t all blow away in the next wind storm).

Looking back 1-2 weeks and 1-2 years I’m a little surprised to see how many photos of flowers there still are.  I guess I forget how much of the garden will often hang in there (and that mid-October isn’t so late in the year).

Looking back 2-4 weeks and 2-4 years has flowers too, but maybe a hint of snow?  We’ve only had one barely frost so far, so the pretty fall colors sure feel real, but the cold doesn’t yet.

…This week my garden is lovely and light-filled and golden.
