photos taken December 24th 2023 of snowy hellebore leaves and winter-dead sedum flowers.

Well, we got just enough snow Christmas Eve to make it look like my hellebores were masquerading as sugar cookies.  Not quite enough snow to be white-Christmas-level decorative, but still kind of decorative.

Looking back 1-2 weeks and 1-2 years seems to be predicting more snow to come! But it’s actually really random, as that shot of hardy violas this time two years ago also points out.

Looking back 2-4 weeks and 2-4 years somehow reinforces both the randomness and the snow.  Basically, winter in Colorado is winter in Colorado.  That every-other-week glimpse sure makes it looks like this has been a snowy snowy year, so also: snapshots are tricksey.

…This week my garden is working with what it’s got, thin-crusted snow.
