Weekly Garden Snapshot: 2024 week 24

See Previous | See Next It’s been a bit (more than a bit) hot this week, so things are blooming, but are also looking a somewhat draggled-y.  In other news, the incredible bloom on my redbud this year has now resulted in an incredible lot of dangling seedpods along all the branches. Looking back 1-2 weeks and 1-2 years shows off all sorts of pretty peonies and roses and other flowers to distract from the heat of actually being out…

What Should My Next Story Seed Be?

What Should My Next Story Seed Be?

As I am writing this, I’m getting close to a hand-off point, when I’ll have just wrapped up one of my latest SSCS’s (the Serial Stream-of-Consciousness Stories that I work on periodically as a break from my more directed writing) and will then be needing to add a new SSCS onto my docket (I usually have three running at any given time).  That begs the question: What should I use as my seed for the next one? Looking back 2-4 weeks and 2-4 years implores us to remember the pretty plum blossoms and tulips of earlier, but also promises lots of roses are one the way soon. …This…

If you want to know what the heck an SSCS is, go here! Previously… “Have you put the spire to rights, Mina?”  The voice was low and scratchy, but the priestess’ own, and Mina, feeling suddenly drained, answered without thought. “I’m not sure how, gran-Tom.”…

Weekly Garden Snapshot: 2024 week 21

See Previous | See Next Yay, the first rose of the season is blooming!  For me, that’s the Austen Copper, bright and red-orange and beautiful.  Austen Copper blooming the same time as the irises always makes my front garden so very nice and cheerful. Looking back 1-2 weeks and 1-2 years also shows off my lavender phlox and purple-blooming creeping thyme that are also blooming right now.  And while I don’t expect yucca blooms this year, yes, my beautiful pink…
