photos taken March 10th 2024 of spring geranium leaves and tulip shoots.

Well, ‘tis the season to go hunting around in the leaf mulch, uncovering the poor tulip shoots all valiantly trying to force their way up to somewhere there’s light!  Sometimes one or two other green things gets discovered too, but mostly it’s tulips, erecting dead-leaf tents as their way of shouting, “I’m here! I’m here!”

Looking back 1-2 weeks and 1-2 years is a reminder that this time of year can be variable about just when the pretty new shoots arrive.

A mosaic of 11 weekly garden images showing late February to mid March for 2022-2024. Some fields of snow. Some winter brown. Some slowly emerging greenery, including hens-and-chicks and hellebore flowers in multiple colors.

Looking back 2-4 weeks and 2-4 years gives both concurrence with tulip-shoot time and a reminder that the near future probably holds both other new flowers soon (crocuses!?), as well as almost certainly some more snow.

…This week my garden is busy growing, but mostly still backstage just yet.
