Weekly Garden Snapshot: 2023 week 13

photos taken April 1st and 2nd 2023 of pale-purple crocuses and bright-red tulips.

I’ve got flowers!  The crocuses and the crazy red alien tulips actually decided to show up at the same time.  (These were surprise tulips planted by the previous owners.  As you can see, they bloom very early, but also, in the bright sun, they open almost flat, quite unlike tulips as I previously understood them.)

Looking back 1-2 weeks and 1-2 years is quite the advertisement for the consistency of these tulips. Otherwise, it suggests that in the near term in my garden it will be the slow waiting game to see when new things will want to show themselves next.

Looking back 2-4 weeks and 2-4 years actually gives a couple more hints of snow to come.  Which, honestly, sounds like a nice prophesy, since so far this spring has been pretty dry.  This week it seemed we entered the time of the wind – all the darned wind.

…This week my garden is showing off its timely springtime surprises.
