Well, there’s still snow on the ground, though things are getting soggy and drippy.  Catching my garden just when the sun is coming through the scraggle can be pretty, but mostly we’re at the stage of ‘Ah, why didn’t I properly tidy this mess (back garden) before it got snow all over it?!’

Looking back 1-2 weeks and 1-2 years gives a strong reminder of how quickly things can dry back up into a brown Colorado winter, though my hellebores will at least usually muscle through some solid (low-to-the-ground) greenery.

Looking back 2-4 weeks and 2-4 years shows some of the possibilities when the snow and the frost come in earnest to make the garden into a surreal other-land.  I can cross my fingers we’ll get some of that this winter.  But right now, we’re at soggy, heading back toward brown.

…This week my garden is melting under soggy snow, rattling in the gusty wind, and no care in the world for that nonsense about looking ‘pretty’.
