So it turns out there are hundreds of alligators in the Colorado desert. And they’re beautiful!

Hello. Hello. It looks like it is time for another round of Quirky (True) Stories, where I regale you with a small selection of random (but true!) stories, apropos of basically nothing. Like the last round of stories, this round has a theme, which is: Random, wild-animal stuff that has happened in my back yard. That sounds vaguely exciting, but you will have to decide for yourself whether these stories live up to the hype. I will warn you ahead…
Meet Hawk. Hawk may or may not have followed us home from the garden center, where we first noticed it by its shadow circling by overhead. After nonchalantly devouring its meal on our deck, Hawk flew off to sit in a tree.
It’s the season of gamboling baby cows! A smile on my way to work in the morning. And would I be frowning if they were gambling instead? Obviously, that would depend on how they pulled it off. Card-playing cows are difficult to frown at.
(I wanted to draw you a picture of a goat hiding up in a tree (in order to escape piranhas), but it seems that even that is outside my capabilities at this present time.)
There was a squirrel in my parking spot when I got in this morning. Somehow he looked guilty as he looked up and slunk/scurried away. What could he have been up to? Meanwhile, the hordes of geese managed to be picturesque this afternoon – flying through a lowering, twilit snowfall will do that it seems.
Today I need to write something positive, just cuz. So, here’s a blog post about some random ‘favorites’ of mine…with certain follow-ups. First up: Favorite Colors Yes, kindergarten is over thirty years behind me, and yet I am still going to tell you about my favorite colors. I really, really like colors, okay? …Which means I can’t possibly have a favorite. But some colors I adore are: So, what’s more wonderful than gorgeous colors? Gorgeous color-combinations. A single, flat color…
Well, it is time for another round of Quirky (true) Stories. This time, I have a theme, which is: The evidence I have so far accumulated that many cartoon tropes (and cartoon-style physics) are, in fact, based on pure reality. Evidence the first: Cockroach encounters. Okay, to start, I grew up in Montana, where we kinda, mostly don’t have cockroaches? I mean, maybe we do, but if so, they keep a very low profile. So, the first time I ever…
I got a treat this evening! I went on a walk and saw no less than 3 separate frogs (or toads – I’m not actually sure how to tell the difference; they were in the grass by the sidewalk(s)). The littlest one especially was so cute! hiding next to a fake rock by the play-ground set. In other news, this was our local squirrel today: I think this squirrel is actually part dog, the way it likes to plop down…
This year’s wood-pile bunny is super shy – but still super cute!
